World Teacher Day (October 5, 2020)

For World Teacher Day 2020, we’ve asked staff to nominate teachers in the community who have been champions for Big Brothers Big Sisters. These are individuals who have gone above and beyond in their jobs and within the community to advocate for our agency and program participants.

The work of teachers is essential to the success of our programs and society at large. As we navigate this virtual space, BBBS wants to recognize that ALL of you are rock stars.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Internal Nominees

Gema Gonzalez (Mentor 2.0 Teacher)

Ms. Webb (Roosevelt Middle School, Tijeras)

She contributes to our community planning of the event, and ensures her students participate and engage in these science activities to increase their knowledge of and enthusiasm for STEAM careers.” – Angela Reed Padilla CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico

Kristina Garcia (Sunset Elementary School, Alamogordo)

“Kristina Garcia has been a huge supporter of BBBS of Otero County for several years.  Her son was a Little beginning in first grade so her children have been part of the program for 6 years.  Her 2 daughters are currently matched and absolutely LOVE the program.  Tina has supported our program by promoting our services to other teachers and recommending our services to families who would benefit from having a Big work with their child.  I can count on Tina to assist me in getting the word out about any campaigns or services that we offer.  I want to take this opportunity to thank Kristina Garcia for all of her hard work with BBBS and her extreme dedication and hard work for our children in our schools.” – Brenda Dorsey Site Manger at Big Brothers Big Sisters in Otero County
